Margaret Mitchell was born in 1900 in Atlanta, Georgia. She was a journalist and writer who grew up hearing stories about the Civil War and the Old South. These stories shaped her imagination and laid the foundation for her only novel, Gone With The Wind. Published in 1936, it won the Pulitzer Prize and became one of the most beloved American novels, later adapted into a famous film. Mitchell died in 1949, but her portrayal of the South and its people continues to impact literature and culture.
